Kit was born in Madison Wisconsin in 1947, where his father was finishing an Electrical Engineering degree at the University of Wisconsin after being discharged from military service. Kit is the oldest of 6 children and grew up in suburban Milwaukee (lots of snow etc.). He began college at UW Madison in 1965 and later transferred To the University of Illinois - Chicago near where he lived and worked with an organization doing a pioneer community development project on Chicago’s west side. After graduating with a BS degree in Urban Systems Engineering, he continued with this organization, The Institute of Cultural Affairs, for 25 years, working with his wife Margaret and their 4 children in rural Iowa, Australia, and 13 years in Brazil. In 1984, they returned to the US and moved to the San Geronimo Valley where they supported Margaret’s mother and created a 4 generation Family compound. In 2014 Kit joined the Board of the San Geronimo Valley Affordable Housing Association in and was soon managing the Rehab of the Forest Knolls Mobile Home Park. He also supervised the renovation of the Sage Lane Senior Housing which included converting its 6 units to Solar power and all electric appliances. Kit is dedicated to creating a significant base of environmentally friendly, below market rate housing in the San Geronimo and Nicasio Valley communities using the Community Land Trust model.
